This website
MetisKnowledgeLab.com is an informational site. It sets no cookies and runs no advertising or tracking scripts. Our host keeps standard server logs, such as IP address and pages visited, for one year for security. If you write to us, we keep your message so that we can reply and follow up. If you use Ask Metis, the assistant on this website, your questions are sent to Anthropic to generate an answer. We do not store those conversations. Please do not share personal or payment details in the chat.
The learning platform
When you enroll in a course, we collect what the course needs to work: your name and email address; your progress, quick-check and assessment results; the notes, lab responses, and portfolio you create; the record of your completion; a record that you agreed to our Terms of Use and this Privacy Policy, including the time of that agreement; and sign-in details such as IP address, kept for security. The platform uses only the cookies it needs to keep you signed in. Payment is handled by our payment processor. The processor's name will be added here when it is confirmed. We receive confirmation of payment and the last four digits of your card, never the full card number.
Why we use it
To run the course for you, to issue and confirm your Completion Record, to reply when you write to us, to keep the platform secure, to record your agreement at enrollment, and, without identifying you, to improve our courses. We do this with your consent and as needed to provide the course. Assessments are scored automatically; if you think a score is wrong, a person will review it. We send marketing emails only if you opt in.
What we do not do
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers. We share it only with the services that run the platform on our behalf, such as hosting, payment processing, and Anthropic when you use Ask Metis; with ACRS, Chennai, if you enroll through it in India; with your institution, if you enroll through one; and where the law requires. Your information is stored in the United States.
Institutional enrollments
If you take a course through a college, university, employer, or other institution, its policies also apply. Where the course runs on the institution's own learning platform, we do not receive your personal information at all. Where it runs on ours, we act on the institution's instructions.
Keeping it
We keep your account and course records for two years after your access ends, your Completion Record for ten years so that it can be confirmed, payment records as tax law requires, and security logs for one year. We protect them with encryption and access controls, and will tell you without delay if a breach affects you.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, delete, or get a copy of your personal information; to limit or object to its use; to withdraw your consent, which ends your course access. Write to [email protected]. We reply within 30 days.
Age
Direct enrollment is for learners aged 18 and over. Learners under 18 may take our courses only through their institution.

Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published here with its date, and enrolled learners will be told of significant changes by email.
